Mitchell County Civil Docket Searches
The Georgia Courts E-Access directory routes Mitchell Superior and State cases to PeachCourt. The provider requires an account and shows no anonymous public search form. Gather the party name, court, and full case number before signing in.
For a missing case, call or visit the correct office. Tess Gay's clerk handles Superior and State records at the county-listed 26 N Court Ave address, phone 229-336-2021. Magistrate Court at 22 N Court Ave and 229-336-2077 keeps its claims, dispossessory, garnishment, and related files. Probate Court at 18 North Street and 229-336-2015 keeps estate and guardianship matters. Mail requests must state the court, case, document, and whether a plain or certified copy is sought.
- Choose Superior, State, Magistrate, or Probate from the case type.
- Use PeachCourt for covered Superior or State records.
- Match the party, case number, and filing date.
- Compare settings with the circuit calendar.
- Ask the clerk for the needed filing or certified judgment.
Mitchell Magistrate Civil Files
Magistrate Court keeps smaller claims, trover, dispossessory, tort, FiFa, and garnishment matters. Its official page supplies forms and office contacts but no online case search. A direct call is therefore the practical first check for a Magistrate number or date.
The Mitchell Magistrate Court page shows its civil services.

The image ties the local claim types to the separate Magistrate record channel.
Civil Dockets: What They Show
The Mitchell civil announcement sample lists county, civil action number, filing date, judge, caption, case type, status, attorney or self-represented notation, and calendar position. A bench-trial sheet adds date, time, trial type, and labels such as motion to set aside or divorce nisi. Neither is the full register.
| Case Number | A local form such as 24CV00282. |
|---|---|
| Parties | The case caption. |
| Filings | Complaint, answer, service, and later papers. |
| Motions | Requests awaiting or receiving a ruling. |
| Judgment | The final or enforceable order. |
Mitchell Civil Calendar Labels
The published Mitchell County civil announcements show useful labels that do not appear on the public PeachCourt login screen. Contract, General Tort, Real Property, Auto Tort, Bankruptcy, Magistrate Appeal, Appeal–Probate, and Stay identify the kind or source of a listed matter. The label helps route a search, but it does not replace the pleadings or order. A Stay entry means proceedings are paused. The docket or order must explain why, for how long, and what may happen next.
Local case examples include 17CV186 and 24CV00282. Keep every digit and letter when speaking with the Mitchell County clerk. These examples show how numbers appear on calendars; they are not a promise that every court uses one fixed parser. A Magistrate or Probate matter may gain a new number after an appeal reaches Superior Court.
- Stayed
- The case is paused under an order or other legal event.
- FiFa
- A writ tied to enforcement of a judgment.
- Appeal–Probate
- A calendar label showing that the matter came from Probate Court.
What Cases Fill the Civil Docket
Venue depends on the claim. Superior Court keeps divorce, equity, and title-to-land matters plus broad civil work. State Court has broad concurrent civil jurisdiction except categories reserved to Superior. Magistrate handles its listed lower-court claims. Probate keeps estates and guardianships, while Probate and Magistrate appeals can appear on a Superior civil calendar.
- Contract, general tort, and auto tort claims
- Real-property and title matters
- Divorce and domestic relations in Superior Court
- Magistrate claims, dispossessory, and garnishment
- Probate matters and lower-court appeals
Mitchell State and Superior Venue
Mitchell County Superior Court has the civil categories reserved to Georgia's court of general jurisdiction, including divorce and domestic relations, equity, and title to land. Mitchell State Court has broad civil jurisdiction concurrent with Superior Court except where Superior Court has exclusive authority. That split means a party name alone may be inadequate. The court name on a summons, complaint, calendar notice, or prior order is the safest routing clue.
The public county description of State Court includes attachments, garnishments, tenant proceedings, foreclosures, and other civil actions. Magistrate Court also handles several smaller-claim and enforcement matters. A searcher should not infer venue from a dollar figure because the research found no county page that gives a complete threshold-based routing chart. When the filing court is unclear, ask the clerk to identify the docket before paying for copies.
Hearings on the Civil Docket
Civil hearing dates appear on the South Georgia Judicial Circuit calendar index and linked PDFs. Match the Mitchell County label, judge, case number, date, and setting type. A PDF is a dated snapshot, so compare it with the latest docket entry and order.
The court controls its trial calendar. Party agreement alone does not create a continuance. Confirm any moved date with the clerk or current order, then use the Mitchell County court schedule for the full calendar process.
Mitchell Civil Readiness Notices
A Mitchell County civil announcement is more than a list of dates. The published notice asks counsel and self-represented parties to state in writing whether the case is ready, why it is not ready, whether a jury is requested, whether mediation occurred, whether motions remain pending, and whether the matter has been disposed of. It also calls for the county, parties, civil action number, and calendar page. The sampled notice did not accept oral or telephone announcements.
That process explains why a case can appear on an announcement sheet without having a final trial date. The court uses readiness information when preparing the calendar. A written announcement is not a motion, an order, or permission to miss a setting. Check the current notice for its own deadline and delivery methods because an old PDF can remain accessible after its date has passed.
Mitchell Probate Civil Records
Probate Court maintains estates, wills, guardianships, conservatorships, and related proceedings in its own office. The official Mitchell County Probate Court page is the source for that separate route.
The image reinforces that a Probate file does not begin in the Superior or State PeachCourt path merely because a later appeal might appear on a circuit calendar. Call the Probate office at 229-336-2015 for its current inspection, copy, and certification process. If an appeal appears under the label Appeal–Probate, use both the source-court information and the new Superior case number when tracing the record.
Who Can See Civil Dockets
Georgia court records follow court access rules, not the Open Records Act request process. Direct a case-file request to the court clerk. Sealed files, protected identifiers, juvenile material, and confidential domestic details can be withheld or redacted. An online gap does not establish that no file exists.
Key Rules:
Georgia Attorney General guidance explains the court-record exception.
Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 addresses access, sealing, and protected identifiers.
Uniform Magistrate Court Rule 20 requires limited identifiers in filings, such as only the last four digits of specified account numbers and the birth year. Parties and counsel bear the filing duty; the clerk does not screen every paper. Rule 6 addresses sealed Magistrate files. For Superior matters, Rule 21 requires a sealing decision through court procedure and a defined order. Ask for redacted public material when only part of a record is protected.
